Minutes
of BCRCC 3/11/09 Meeting
New Members: We welcome Dave
Nofziger to our group. Dave has solid experience in both building
and flying but has not enjoyed active participation in the hobby for
quite a while. Dave did contribute some excellent suggestions during
the meeting and we’re all delighted to have him aboard…
Montana Harkin, appearing just a tad
sleep-deprived, received a warm round of congratulatory applause for
recently becoming a first-time dad. We all enthusiastically welcome
baby daughter, Ada into our community.
OLD BUSINESS:
Lock: The old, defective field-box lock has
been changed but the combination remains the same. The proposed
mnemonic device linking the combo to the birth-date of a little known
Hungarian conductor was shot down in flames!!!
Profiles and Dues: We were reminded to turn
in our member profiles to Jim Trump and to submit our annual dues to
the Montana Treasury. Jim T. will maintain the collection of profiles
at his store (open 7d/wk); there, they will always be conveniently
available for all members to review…
Committee Heads: Several categories of club
activities will be most efficiently implemented if one club member is
in charge of each. So far, we can firmly link the following
committees with their respective heads:
“AIRMAILER” newsletter editor-
Jim Trump
E-mail Newsletter/Web-Page- Steve Sneller
Float-Fly- Tom Leach
DVD Production- Tom Leach
Pylon Racing- Ted Lukins
Spring Work Party- Ed Kreusser
Somewhat less than firm linkage exists between its
possible boss and the Flying Field Committee and no linkage,
whatsoever, is, as of yet, evident between anyone and the chief-spot
for the Public Relations Committee!
Membership Cards: Montana is working on
this. Dave Nofziger suggested they perhaps be in the form of name
badges. This would present a more friendly and approachable face
to the public spectators we mean to attract. Most felt this idea has
much merit. No resolution has yet been made…
Spring Work Party: To put our best foot
forward during public events, we plan to maintain the field in
optimum shape. In this regard, the outhouse maintenance will be
resumed on a twice monthly schedule. Suggestions should be submitted
to me for a work party date to be announced…
NEW BUSINESS:
Flying Field Evolution: To expand the
potential of our field and in so doing to hopefully strengthen our
claim that the property is, indeed, an effectively utilized, valuable
community resource and asset, it was suggested that 2 closely related
activities be brought in and accommodated. Jim T. indicated that
there are about a dozen confirmed, local enthusiasts for R/C cars
and trucks. It was also suggested that there is a strong
following for control-line flying in Albany.
Ted Lukins sent out a
batch e-mailing to the membership, reminding us of the next PR
Meeting--- March
25th 2009 at 7:30 PM at Papa’s Pizza, 1030 SW 3rd
St.
757-2727.
Pylon
Racing: Ted
L. displayed the prototype pylon racer for the coming season. It’s
been determined to be easier to build, fly and repair than last
year’s model. All those interested in participating are
encouraged to contact Ted for detailed information and to submit the
$20 enrollment fee.
***************
Show
& Tell:
Following the business discussions, Jerry Sealey won the $25 gift
certificate for his new, gorgeous giant-scale aerobat. All members
departed the meeting with most sincere drool-stains of envy down the
fronts of their respective jackets and shirts!
***************
.
April 8th meeting: This will be the final
indoor meeting of the season. In May, we begin our outdoor Fun-Fly
schedule… Business should include further discussion and
possible resolutions on these topics: name-tags;
club-jackets/tee-shirts and caps; field activity expansion; spring
work-party suggestions; PR meeting results. And, let’s wrap it
up with a strong Show & Tell competition!
Have a fine month,
Ed
Kreusser
