July Meeting/Fun Fly

FUN FLY RESULTS for June

The LIMBO EVENT found eleven contestants competing. Pilots had one minute to complete as many passes as possible under the crepe-paper ribbon set at a 6 feet height (+/- a thou.). I’m happy to report that no planes were destroyed and 3 pilots tied for first place: Steve Sneller, Keith Ellis and Jim Trump each completed 3 successful passes. Nice job, guys!!

This tie resulted in an exciting FUN-FLY FLY-OFF. Each of the 3 pilots was now given 2 minutes to execute as many passes as possible under the aforementioned ribbon. Steve registered 4 successful passes, Keith had 5 and Jim had so many passes that all the bean-counters with all their highly specialized, precision, digital, scientific-notation instrumentation lost count well before he had finished (TNTC*)…

Congratulations Jim! And… thanks to all the participants and field equipment-engineers and assistants.

JULY CLIMB ‘n’ GLIDE

On Wednesday, July 9th, prior to our club meeting, we’ll have a CLIMB ‘n’ GLIDE competition. Electric and fuel planes are welcome but, planes primarily designed as gliders or soaring planes, however, aren’t eligible.

From the time of liftoff, the pilot will have 20 seconds to get high, at which time the power must be cut. The plane with the longest time aloft will win the gallon of fuel (or, alternatively, electrons for the electrics)

We’ll try to get started at 6:30 pm. We hope to see you all there.

Have a fine month…
