Notes from the Pres. August 2011
Are we having a great summer or what? Last month we visited the TEAM airfield at the Evergreen Air Museum, in McMinnville. Those of us who made the trip were treated to a barbecue as part of their Family Fun Day event. The great flying was equaled only by the hospitality.
Early in July we had a static display at Footwise shoe store in downtown Corvallis. Dennis, Will, and Tom did a great job of setting up the display and it attracted alot of attention. Thanks for the good work.
July 15th through 17th we had our booth at the annual Divinci Days Celebration on the lower OSU Campus. We had a RealFlight RC simulator, provided by Knife Edge Software, which was quite popular. We also had airplanes on display and alot of flight demonstrations. It drew alot of attention and we told by the event directors that they hoped we would come back next year. I would like to thank Brian Benson and Steve Sneller for their part in putting this club event together. I would also like to thank those who manned the booth that weekend. This includes Steve Sneller, Brian Benson, Dennis Lalley, Will Dillon, and Tom Leach from our club. Also there, was Dave Nofziger, Ron Howell, Brian Wilson, and Chris Sarrett from the Albany Thundervolts. Special thanks to Brian B. for his 3D demo flying all day saturday.
On July 23rd we had a special "Buddy Box Day" at Adair Airfield and had a tremendous turnout. About twenty adults and kids showed up to try their hand at flying. I was on the buddy box from 9:00am to 2:00pm, stopping only for fuel and an occasional battery change. Steve and Will also took some potential pilots up for their first flight. Also on hand was Joe Doerr and Keith Ellis to help out and provide the students with some ground school training. Thanks to all of you, we had enough interest to start up another Trainer Night for students. (Probably Tuesday evenings). If anyone would like to help with this, just come out to the field or contact me.
As you read this, we will have already visited the Eugene airfield. We expect good weather and some great flying.
That's about it from me. Go fast. Turn left. DON'T CUT!!!!!
